Regional Nature Plan

Brussels Environment

  • Biodiversity
  • Participatory strategies
  • Public sector

To develop the Regional Nature Plan, Brussels Environment called on 21 Solutions, in partnership with Ecores, to define and support the participatory process. Initial work organised with the Brussels High Council for Nature Conservation made it possible to define a vision of nature in the Brussels Region for 2050 and some key strategic focuses. On this basis, the participatory process that we developed made it possible to present and improve the project with the different stakeholders, and then to work on an action plan around four points:

  • The preservation, development and management of natural areas and species
  • The development of nature in the city and its integration into urban projects
  • Awareness-raising, education, training and participation in the conservation of nature and biodiversity
  • Cross-cutting themes and governance

The learning path that we defined and implemented enabled participants to draw inspiration from practices in different foreign cities. A video was also used to present the main nature-related issues in the city.
