The Brussels-Capital Region has numerous listed buildings and structures under the management of Brussels Environment. To help building owners make the right choices, 21 Solutions has been entrusted together with Atelier Moneo with responsibility for carrying out historical, urban planning and technical studies in collaboration with urban planners and architects.

From a historical point of view, such studies shed light on the development of a building and its environment over time, the urban setting, the original design and its place in the context of the architect’s work. The urban planning part addresses all questions relating to a building’s location, including hydrography, landscape and biodiversity, as well as the building’s condition, functions, regulatory situation and legal protection. Finally, the technical studies include analyses to identify a building’s state and provide essential information on any modifications to it.

The team of 21 Solutions and Atelier Moneo has already carried out ten such studies, including for the old miller’s house at Rouge-Cloître Abbey, a farmhouse called Ferme de Neerpede as part of the BoerenBruxselPaysansproject, the Forge de Jette (a former smithy) and the historic greenhouses at Stuyvenberg.
