EMAS and ISO 14001 implementation in the Mobility and Transportation Federal Public Service

A dynamic public service

Following the decision of the Council of Ministries dated July 20, 2005, and particularly conscious of its role as an example of public service, the Mobility and Transport Federal Public Service is committed to increasingly rigorous management of environmental questions related to its activities. In recognition of its efforts and ambitious objectives, the Mobility and Transport Federal Public Service is the first “major” Federal Public Service to have received the EMAS European Label (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme).

In concrete terms, the Federal Public Service committed to better integration of environmental concerns in:

  • the management of its buildings
  • services provided by logistics
  • in the preparation of policies under its responsibility
  • the implementation of these policies

Integration in the various administrations of public service

Marcel van Meesche supported the implementation of EMAS in the Mobility and Transport Federal Public Service for 15 months in 2006-2007.

Marcel van Meesche also performed EMAS / ISO 14001 training for the Mobility and Transport Federal Public Service personnel in 2008 and supported it in renewing its EMAS registration in 2010.

Since Spring, 2012, 21 Solutions has also supported the Beliris Transport Infrastructure Division during its EMAS implementation.
