The Citizen-Minded Sustainable Districts Guide

The Citizen-Minded Sustainable Districts Guide

‘Citizen-Minded Sustainable Districts’ are districts whose residents have benefited or are benefiting from support from Brussels Environment to run dynamic projects promoting urban sustainability. Based on friendly relations between local residents, they help to change individual behaviour, define and implement projects in the general interest and create shared benefits.

This guide, which was written in 2012 by the agencies in charge of coordinating the Sustainable Districts call for projects (ERU vzw, 21 Solutions, Ecores and Ecoconso), is intended to help the participating districts in their project development process. However, it is potentially of use in any process or project taking shape in a district: members of a local committee who wish to carry out actions relating to sustainable development, a group of friends seeking to create a collective garden / vegetable patch / compost area, residents who would like to barter services with their neighbours, and so on.
